Has the SOUND of a game turned you away?

Vector. Saw it at Allentown, Wanted to buy it instantly. This game looks
AWESOME!!! Then I played it, and I could not stand the sound on the machine.
Has this ever happened to anyone else with a machine?

I really wanted to like Vector, but the "shoosh" noise (for lack of a better
term) just annoyed me. Vector, VECTOR!. That too :-(

Is it just me?

Thanks!

I can't resist this thread.

2 games:

LW3: OK OK OK!

And the repetitive disco noise of BK2000 (I know everyone loves it, but
c'mon!)

With me it was DE Star Wars. When I started in the hobby (a few years
back) it was an affordable game. I am a Star Wars fan and thought I
couldn't go wrong. But that music was so cheesy (IMO of
course.)....ended up with a Frankenstein instead......(a cool
soundtrack IMO).

Sure- sound is 50% of the game to me. I hate the repetitive Data East games
(TFTC, JP) and Dr. Who as someone else mentioned. Never found a Bally like
Vector to be very annoying myself, but can see your point.

I owned (one of my first pins) a Roller Games for a while. This one
qualifies.

I can't stand the pinball machines that have that knocker sound when
you win a free game or get an extra ball. I just refuse to play any
game that has a knocker

Yep. That annoying "Shwooosh" sound is precisely the reason I don't
desire to own that pin even though it would fit nicely in my Classic
Stern and Bally collection.

2 more great examples of "pin-noyances" Don.

That BK2K sound reminds me of that bad movie: "A Knight's Tale".

Twister and any other DE games with the same sound calls over and over.

SI with the elevated alarm sound for the right drop target. Why is that
so damn loud?

Man I don't get it, I love that sound on mine ;).. try it on a
subwoofer and the cabinet kinda trembles during the shooosh..
I see your point though, it goes off after every speech call. Very
energetic crowd in the game.

Anyways I hate any audio from late 70s ballys (kiss, playboy, paragon,
dolly parton, etc.). some of these games (kiss & paragon especially)
just deserved a better bad-ass sound package.

i love everything else.

Where is my paycheck? Enough said. Also, around 1994, 95, I played Fish
Tales for the first time. I couldn't stand the sound on that thing,
especially "How big was it..."? Fast forward 4,5 years, now, I love the
game, it's addicting. And I learned to tolerate the sound on it.

Funny you should mention that. When I was a kid, I did not like
pinball, the bells and chimes just grated on my nerves, they still do.
Once the late 70's came and the SS started talking, I was hooked,
early 20's. Taxi might have to have the bell turned off...

easy: RBI0N. Sound bytes and music in general are soooooooooooo
ho-hum. The super jackpot and extra ball sounds ain't too shabby
though. But I had to own one before I heard those. No kidding! The
pay-for-plays I experimented with had virtually no volume.

Rollergames. Loved the flow of the game, but the music was awful.
