Hello!

I knew the following function from old Windows NT systems:

If you select a file of the MRU list (I mean the list with the last
opened files) in any application (f.e. Word, Excel, ...) the "active
directory for this application is changed automatically in the
background". Here an example to explain what I mean with my bad
English:

You click on the first entry of the MRU list to open the file
E:\data\customer1\letter1.doc. If you use the "open file" function
after that the active directory in the dialog box is E:\data\customer1.

Now you click on the third entry of the MRU list to open the file
E:\data\it\problems\mru.doc. If you use the "open file" function after
that the active directory in the dialog box is automatically changed to
E:\data\it\problems.

I think this was a very useful function! Unfortunately I detect that
this do not work on Windows XP systems. Here is an example for a
Windows XP system:

You use the "open file" function to open the file
E:\data\customer1\letter1.doc. After that you click on the third entry
of the MRU list to open the file E:\data\it\problems.

After that you use the "open file" function again. The active directory
in the dialog box now is "E:\data\customer1" and NOT
"E:\data\it\problems" as it was on a Windows NT system.

Upshot: There is no "sychronisation" between the "open file" function
and the "open files over mru-list" function.

Perhaps some people like this new way but I do not like it :-) So my
question is: Is there any possibilty to change this behavior on Windows
XP systems?

Thanks in advance and
kind regards from Germany

Achim
