Hi,

In the company I work for, we are using SafeGuard Easy on all laptops
to do this, and we are very satisfied with the product. it has a
pre-boot-authentication system that asks for a password. It also have
a delay system if you enter a wrong password, for each wrong password,
it takes longer and longer before you are offered a new chance, this
to make dictionary attacks almost impossible.

SafeGuard Easy also gives you the option to encrypt the complete hard
disk (we do), this way it will not be possible to boot on a CD or
floppy to get access to the hard disk. Actually, if you encrypt the
hard disk with SafeGuard Easy, you really don't need to enable the
pre-boot-authentication system, as you can let SafeGuard Easy add this
longer and longer wait for each wrong password also for your Windows
logon process, and as the hard disk is encrypted, it is not possible
to use any bootable CD/floppy to remove passwords on the user accounts.
