Hello,
I have a 19" Proscan TV with a 12 volt 5 amp power supply the power supply was damaged during a storm. I got another 12v 5a power supply and it lasted about 1 hour and burnt up. It was also very hot. I got another and it seems to be getting hotter than normal. The TV works fine. If I go to a 12v 6amp power supply would it help?

If the spare power supplies were correct for the voltage and amperage of the original power supply, then there may be a short in the power circuitry of the TV set that has resulted out of the electrical storm and this short may be causing a bigger load on the power supply than the power supply can deliver and sustain. You should immediately have your TV set checked by a qualified technician.

A bigger power supply ( 12 V and 6 amp ) may last longer but is not advisable because there may be things in the TV set that are heating up but not felt by you because you can't touch them. Ther are inside the TV set. A fire may result.
