Okay. I'm building my first computer, and I've just finally settled on a platform:

ASUS P4PE Mboard
Intel 845PE chipset
Pentium 4 2.4GHz 533FSB

The only thing I find confusing right now is all the optional features on the P4PE chipset. They are:

-audio-
ADI1980 6 Channel CODIC

-ports-
RJ45
Audio I/O

-connectors-
S/PDIF out connector/module
Front audio panel connector
Game/MIDI connector

-general-
RAID
Flexible Serial ATA
LAN Onboard (1000Mbps Ethernet)
IEEE 1394

-misc-
InterVideo WinCinema

I want to create a multimedia powerhouse. I want to record and mix multitrack audio, edit digital video, stream live audio/video (radio, tv, surf cams), photoshop, etc.

Do I need all these options? Is RAID necessary now that there is "crash free BIOS?" Is the integrated sound good enough or do I need to invest in a sound card (or an interface like pro-tools)?

Any light that can be shed on these subjects for me would be greatly appreciated, cuz I'm truly in the dark. Much thanks!

I can't really see any significant differences between the two, with the exception that the P4PE has 1000Mbps LAN line... What else?

For what i have see there mothersboards gain more power when overclock even if you dont overclock that a thing that may change when you will see your systemes lacking of power.Personaly overclocking a P4 is risk free

Now what to do??
