I've recently built a new computer and purchased a ViewSonic VX2433wm 23.6'' LCD Monitor to use with it. I had the computer up and running but within a day or two of use, a horizontal line popped up on my screen.
Now, to give a quick description of the line, it isn't one main color. It happens to change colors along its entirety. The colors usually fit the scheme of the picture/interface the monitor displays, but sometimes it views an array of assorted colors that I can only call random and annoying.
So to continue my little story, I checked my graphics card driver (as well as some other troubleshooting methods like unplugging and replugging or simply turning off and on the monitor/computer) and over the next few days the problem quadrupled. Yep, so now I have four horizontal lines on my screen. So before I decide to get this thing replaced at the store (14 day return policy, I believe I have 2 days left) I would like to hear what anyone has to say about this.
For the sake of efficiency (two days left!) I'll just place all the info here in a quick summary:
Problem: Horizontal lines accumulating on my screen. (1 initially, 4 currently)
Product: ViewSonic 23.6'' LCD (Model VX2433wm)
Video Card: GeForce GTX 260
Adapter: DVI-DVI Cord.
Attempts to Fix
Restarted Computer.
Restarted Monitor.
Unplugged and replugged everything.
Attempted to use the screen with DVI to VGA adapter on the card and VGA-VGA cord.
Other Notes: When the computer is off, I turned on the monitor to check if the lines would appear. It turns out that the lines are obviously still there (across the "No Signal" window that appears when you turn on the monitor).
Also, unlike the other 'horizontal line' problems I've researched thus far, these lines remain persistent even after restarting the computer/turning off the monitor. There is no 'disappearing and reappearing' period, just complete erroneous horizontal lines.
As I said before, I have two days left to return this thing so I hope I can get some sort of response tomorrow.
