I have version 3.01 that was supplied with my Gateway machine. I am running
W98SE & am thinking of upgrading to Win 2000 pro.
I would like to know that is version 3.01 Win 2000 pro compliant?
If it is not then what is, & I would also like to know what fax software can
also send faxes from my scanner a Canon 3000F?

Have you checked the Cannon site? I have two other brand scanners that came
without software so I just went to their site and D/Led what I needed.
Other than that you can google for compatible software, both free and
retail.

Good to hear that you've found something.

BTW on commercial software, I just did a job for a realty company that
uses a number of scanners, printers and combos for sending documents (text &
pictures) across the web and via FAX. They swear by some software called
ABBYY Fine Reader (I think they're using v.7). They claim to have tried
most of the stuff on the market and this one was the most accurate on text
and offered the most features they wanted. I googled it and it has a demo
version you can try before you buy.

FYI they also use a FAX server at their main office to send out all of
their Faxes. A sort of Email to FAX/FAX to Email system. They can send
Faxes via Email to the server from any of their agent's computers. The
server is connected to two dedicated in/out bound phone lines. The outbound
line that gives them some flat rate charge per call (local or LD). The
inbound line receives Faxes and routes them over the web to their various
offices/users as Email. Just thought I'd throw this in for anyone looking
at a commercial install.
