I just assembled a new Thoroughbred xp1700+ cpu on a Asus a7n8x board. I attached the cpu heatsink thermal sensor to the top of the cpu 2mm away from the processor.
While idle the BIOS reports the CPU temp to be 15C hotter then what AsusProbe reports. AsusProbe reports 35-36C. BIOS says the temp is 49-50C. However both BIOS and AsusProbe report the same temps for the mobo at 30-31C. Not overclocked.
Should I follow the BIOS temp or the AsusProbe temp?
Should I have placed the thermal sensor on the underside of the CPU?
