Compaq FAQ Power cord problems

I've been having a problem recently with my Compaq Presario CQ62-238DX. When I plug in the Power Cord it doesn't register that it's charging, no notification, no change in brightness as it used to, but it does still charge. I've tried resetting everything, but nothing seems to work. I'd like to know how to get the notification back so I can know when my computer is charging, and not just hope for the best. Thanks
