I have some old Palm Desktop User Data I want to convert over to my
new Palm Desktop (4.2.1) My old data is from version 2.5 but my new
desktop won't open it or even see it. Is there any way I can bring
this data into my new desktop. Any ideas on what would happen if I
tried syncing up to the old data?

Thanks for any help.

-Tim

Goto <http://kb.palmone.com> PalmOne Knowledge Library, and search by
Solution ID 3797 Copying data from one Palm Desktop user profile to
another.
-=OR=-
13371 Upgrading to a new handheld: Creating a new username and retaining
PIM data (Windows).
-=OR=-
23356 Upgrading from a previous Palm OS(r) Handheld.

Thanks Jim for your suggestion. I tried this and unfortunately it
didn't work because the Palm Desktop isn't seeing the old user data. I
also could not locate the two KB articles you reference 13371 or
23356, the KB search result said they couldn't find them. I'll keep
looking through the KB but if you can think of anything else, I'm open
to suggestions.

Looked at the 1st 2, but I don't see why the 2 different procedures.
Why the hassle of the longer way if the other works just as well?
Also, would the short copying dirs/files way be advisable regularly, to
get around the problem of syncing 2 or more palms to 1 Palm Desktop user
ID? So far I have been afraid to sync back, just used "desktop
overwrites" to goto the backup Palm, and only used "synchronize" on the
main one since I know the dat files have refs to user dir.

Would it be better to have them both set to the same username, but swap
around all the apps, conduits for 3rd party apps, etc. instead - way more
of a pain, but if I get any more conflicts than I've already had over then
months I'm gonna scream :)
