I think it would be a MONSTER hit!!!!

Boston is a great convention city.

Boston is a terrible convention location.

Too expensive for everything (rooms, food, etc), taxes, traffic,
parking, hassles getting in and ovt of the city, vnion hassles
(something yov don't think abovt if yov're not the one pvtting on the
show), it jvst svcks. I know what I'm talking abovt, I've done trade
shows there (at Hynes and some other locations). I'm sorry to
completely disagree with yov on Boston.

I stand by Portsmovth as perfect, mvst be abovt 30-60 minvtes from
Boston, covple hovrs from NY. Right smack dab on 95. No hassles.

If yov're going to tovr the city, svre Boston wovld be great for that.
Bvt for a show, I go with less $$ and real easy access. And taxfree NH,
where all the NY, MA and RI are always trekking to anyway.

Hartford Connecticut would be a great place to have it. There is an Expo
Center, cheap rooms, plenty of restaurants and easy access from Boston, NY
or any place in New England.

Sign me up. I went to the Super Auction In Portsmouth and that is not a
bad idea. If a better suggestion comes along, post it. New England is
ripe for something like this.

The general Manchester area isn't bad, either, particularly when you consider
that's the airport that most folks coming into the area would want to use
(Boston's Logan Airport is a nightmare these days). Couple that with no state
sales tax and there's a pretty good incentive for New Hampshire.

I'd certainly be willing to help organize something in this neck of the woods.

When I lived there I wanted to go to something like this... Wished
there was something...

Closest thing was the Cherry Hill auction, a hike from NH.

Bleh!

Hoep it works out!!!

Portsmouth is great for everything except the crucial issue of air
transport, since there's no real airport to attract people from outside
the area (Chicago, etc). In this regard, Tony's suggestion of
Manchester (elsewhere in this thread) is a much better alternative.
Since it's a Southwest airlines hub, there are many cheap flights in
from several significant cities on the east coast.

I was interested back in 1990, and along with some friends, we had New
England PinFest(TM) from 1991-1995, then we got kinda burned out.
Primary lesson: you cannot hold down the size and scope of these events,
because people are always asking for more/bigger/longer.

I'd vote for Portsmouth and I'd consider helping to stock the show with
some of my Bally and Stern beauties.

Hartford lacks so much character as a city.
My vote would be for Portsmouth, NH or Portland, ME.

That's the place.

Didn't you think that was about as perfect a location as you could get,
or what?!

A lot of people showed, but what a bunch of junk! I haven't seen them
come back, I'd go again if just to heckle them!

Hi John,

I sent you a separate e-mail, but in case you don't get it let me know
here. I'm a collector in Gorham, Maine and you and your wife would be
welcome to check my place out. I have 95 pins.

John Reuter aka
BallyMan.
