All,
Has anyone installed the full cabinet decal set that Marco Specialities
sells for Getaway HS2 ? I'm contemplating purchase and was wondering
about quality and durability.
Thanks
Bill

Hey Bill,
I see these every week at Marcos & I'm even looking for a
faded game w/ good PF just because I thought they were so good, This is
not a sales pitch, just my thoughts on the decals,

Pin-Del,

I'd be willing to bet they're Darin's decals. If so, they're top-notch.

I've installed a set on my HS2. Marco sent me CFTBL by mistake and
even sent the right ones out without waiting for the return (top notch
customer service).

They look awesome. I expected them to be slightly more durable. They
do tend to scratch more easily than I thought they would.

Some tips if you decide to install a set:
Take care of any imperfections prior to installation (they're not as
thick as someone eluded to - there's backing and front material that
are removed once they're installed). Sand the entire surface area
smooth or you will have the silouette of the graphics underneath
(unless you can place them exactly on top, good luck).

I really expected these to be pre-sized/cut. Be very careful when
cutting them. The two sides are identical (no L/R). I also found that
their guide marks don't line up exactly. The front panel is
particularly tricky. If you try to line up the shifter graphic exactly
over the opening - you risk cutting of the bottom 'getaway'. There is
a compromise of having just a a little bit of white showing above the
shifter. I used an old side rail as a straight edge. Mark your cuts
with a sharpie first. I used an old side rail as a straight edge.
Mark your cuts with a sharpie first. Use a brand new exacto blade for
each panel.

Can't report on durability, as I just installed them a few weeks ago.
Overall, I give them the thumbs up.

Great feedback, thanks all. Greg did you consider lacqueing on top
after installation to protect further ?
Cheers

Bill,
I didn't consider lacquer. I have WAY too many hours into the thing,
as it is. I did clearcoat the playfield, though. The pin is in a safe
location, so I don't think there's any need to protect it. Just made
the point that the decals are not bullet proof.
