Sorting out a second monitor

Hi,
I recently added a new monitor to my computer,
and i want to continue using my old one as well as my new one,
I have sorted out the two monitors so they are both working and i can drag stuff between them,
I have two issues though,
1. I want to be able to access programs from some sort of menu (like a taskbar) on my second monitor
2. Two get to my second monitor from the first, i have to move my mouse to the right off the screen when the second monitor is to the left of the first, so the mouse moves right to my monitor on the left
Any help would be a appreciated,
btw, should i use hydravision?
