Novi Convention Center would be an ideal location for Pin Expo to
settle into.

1..Central location
2..Near Major Airport
3..Plenty of nearby hotels
4..Plenty of Space
5..Supply of games from local ops, collectors
6..No Paid Parking at Hotels
7..Trip to Marvins Mechanical Museum could replace the Factory Tour.

I'm sure I left some out. Feel free to add to the list. Pro's/Con's

Might not be easy to leave Chicago. Stern tour, a lot of the people that
bring games and do seminars are close. Tradition. It wouldn't be easy to
move something that big to a different city. LTG :)

As someone that spends a lot of time in Michigan, I wish I
could agree. The Chicago connection is just too strong.
All the game designers. Chicago is the home of pinball.

The bigger problem with a convention center is the cost.
I don't really know, but I suspect that the Expo did not
actually pay for usage of the Ramada hotel. They probably
got everything for free, as long as the Ramada got a certain
number of hotel renters for the weekend, and a certain
number of people bought banquet tickets. The Expo brought
people to the hotel who paid and stayed there, and that's
why the Ramada could offer such a freebie-deal to Pacak.
The Novi Expo center can not offer that deal because it
does not have a hotel.

Sincerely,
Steven R.

Chicago is the center of the piball universe.
couldn't be anywhere else!
if central location is what you're looking for, go to KC. just about
dead center of the US.

Not really "near" - according to Maps On Us, it's a 25 mile drive from
Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) to the Expo Center.

> 3..Plenty of nearby hotels

Again, not really "nearby". There's no hotel connected to the Center
itself; the nearest (IIRC) is the Sheraton, which is directly across an
8-lane Interstate from the Center.

Mike would also have to _pay_ for the Expo Center. I'd be willing to bet
the Ramada ballroom(s) were free (or at least _cheap_) with a guaranteed
certain number of room rentals. -JW

Forgot to mention a "pro" - I used to live in Novi, and my son's still
there, so I could stay for free... <grin> -JW

At one time there were two big pinball museums in the works in that area.
One in New Zealand and one in Australia. So the day may come when there is a
big pinball show there. LTG :)
