Just got a new Nikon D3100 with the kit lens. Would like to shoot birds and wild animals plus street photography. What lens and equipment would you suggest with my Nikon D3100?

Thanks in advance.

For street scenes as well as indoor, use an 18 to 70 mm zoom lens.

For wildlife use a 70 to 300 mm telephoto zoom lens. With tele lenses you may need a tripod in most instances.

I am thinking for the AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/2.8G ED VR II or the much cheaper Tamaron AF70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD MACRO. Di.

Well...cheap is good :-) however, some are saying it has auto focus issue with the D3100. Has anyone tried the Tamaron on Nikon D3100?

Stay with Nikkor lenses - superior quality and performance.
