Dell xps laptop windows 7 screen resolution problem

Every time I awaken or restart my xps running windows 7, I find that the screen resolution has automatically changed from the "Native" 1600 X 900 (which is where I want it) to 1024 X 768. I constantly have to reset my screen resolution. Is there a permanent fix to this annoying proiblem? I want my screen resolution to STAY at 1600 X 900 at all times. Thanks
