I noticed that SiS shows that their chipsets that support Hyper-Threading are for B-Stepping CPU's only. All P4's are B stepping aren't they?

No they are not, but most P4s, I'd say from 1.8 to 2.53GHZ are B or C for sure.
And SiS is wrong, it's now a lower quality stepping that should be required to run HT. Besides, only the 3.06GHZ runs it unlocked, and it is a certain C1.

I think I'm lost on this one. When I look at the specs on Intel's site, the 3.06MHz is at a core stepping of C1. However, I have no idea if this is the same stepping that SiS's website refers to. Here's the link on Intel:

Hey, Eden, I think I must have been typing while you posted. Here's a link to Sis' info saying B-stepping only.

http://www.sis.com/products/chipsets/oa/pentium4/655.htm
"Intel Pentium® 4 CPU with Hyper-Threading technology (B stepping only)"

What do you make of that?

It's complicated! Powerleap makes an adapter than enables HT on non-HT boards now! How do they do that? I don't know! But the "B stepping" refers to the chipset revision I think. The SiS 655 "B" version is supposed to do it, while the "A" stepping isn't. Somehow Gigabyte got support for some HT features out of the earlier "A" stepping chipset, I don't know how, but if Powerleap can do it on an adapter, Gigabyte can do it on the board!

There are no stupid questions, only stupid people doling out faulty information based upon rumors, myths, and poor logic!

I still think they are wrong, or are referring to Crashman's suggestion, chipset rev.
I'd e-mail them, it might even be a very unprofessional typo, because on current P4s, only the C1 stepping can use HT, since it's the 3.06GHZ that can.

One pertinent thing I found on their English-version website is that whoever wrote the text was not a native speaker. There are actually some strange and humorous phrases to be found there.

The SiS site may intend to say that it must be B Stepping or higher, but due to language problems, it’s not as clear.

I did try to email them using their support form, but could not get it to send. I’ll try again.
