The right MIST multiball lift gate on my Dracula Pin is not working
properly when the magnet is activated. During a magnet test the gate
opens and closes rapidly several times when the ball approaches from
the left and can knock the ball off the magnet into play if the timing
is off. If I perform a solenoid test(magnet inactive) the gate opens
and closes normally. Since the magnet and solenoid are close to each
other, is it possible the magnet is affecting the solenoid?
Thanks.

I noticed that same problem early in the fix-up of my BSD; I believe it was a
mechanical problem with the flap that the coil attracts. It's been several
years now but it seemed like the spring was hanging up, or something; the coil
is not a very strong one and any resistance whatsoever to its normal motion will
cause it to fail to hold. What follows is the hold/release/hold/release action.

I'd be more thinking you have switch issues, the ones under the playfield
that let the magnet know where to stop left or right, or opto issues on top,
the game isn't sure if the ball is in there or not yet. LTG

OK - we've got two replies on checking the switch. While I won't say it's not
the switch, consider the behavior. The coil is pulling the flap (which has the
spring and gate wire attached) and then releasing it, over and over. My money
is on it being a mechanical problem with the coil assembly. In other words, a
gentle bending of a piece to close the gap just a miniscule amount to where the
coil's limited power is able to hold the flap. Or, the spring is too strong,
crooked, hung wrong, etc. get the direction I'm heading with this : )

Thanks you all for the input. I replaced the coil and spring and
cleaned the post. Still having the problem. I'v decided to live with it
and accept the "free" multiball as compensation for all the center drop
target drains.

Funny you mention this.
Everybody who i watch playing BSD hits the center and flush!!
I never ever aim on those targets, always go right or left around them....so
no problem.
Those targets, when hit, pretty much certainly gives you a drain......avoid
like the plague !!
