Are features in monitor useful?

I was looking for a 1080p 22" monitor that can both work and watch videos, but there are so many different ones. Just wondering are features like auto brightness and scenerio changes useful? also, is 22 inch too big for surfing net and reading texts? thanks

Many of the monitor have AUTO function. 22'' is not so big.I own an 22'' monitor and is perfect.
