Maximum amount of ram for a acer am5640

what is the maximum amount of ram i can install in this tower.. i can find 8gb and 16 gb ram modules for ddr2 240 pin.. is it worth the money if the comp wont use the extra ram

Acer Aspire M5640? It looks like it only supports 4GB of ram.
