Jukebox picks up a record and rejects it straightaway why ?

my smc1 scans,picks up a record and puts it back without playing it,it does this on every record.

I've just ad thi on my '64 Rock-Ola Rhapsody.WhenI found the case I laughed ... there was a coin shortingthe eject button connector and the metal case.
