Control TV optical audio level

Have 2 tvs neither with variable audio output so cannot disable internal speakers. Want to use optical output of one tv to drive preamop through d/a convertor and control level with tv remote volume control

Sound level in optical audio output of your TV is fixed. You can turn up or down the volume using the amplifier or the device to which the optical cable is attached.
