TV Tuner Advice

Hello,
I have a 40 inch Samsung Flat Screen HDTV whose tuner is broke. I'm getting rid of cable and now need a tuner that works so I can pick up local channels. Can I get a external tuner to use with it so I can get local channels? Is so, what do I need to look for in a tuner?

If you are wanting to pickup local over the air broadcasts on an antenna you can get a digital converter box and use the A/V output jacks on the Digital box and hook them to your A/V jacks on one of your inputs. What's up with the tuner? Can it be repaired?
