I have a tv booster but doesnt work at all?

Hello,
i have a tvsignal booster its a 27811HS from Asda.when i connect it there is no signal at at all and i have checked all the connections as stated on the papetwork.but if i swap the leads round the opposite way that they SHOULDNT be i get a few channels!! but not many.any help????

what antenna are you using ? and what is your location city/ state
