New XP

Need some opinions. I've got an A7N8X Deluxe, with 1 gig of PC 2700 333mhz mem. I'm currently running an XP 1800.
1. Any way to tell what core my 1800 is? The stepping ID in WCPUID says 2, whatever that means.
2. I can gat a 2600 for around $150. Would it be worth it to pay $300+ for the 2800???
Need help please.

Ignorance is bliss, and i'm a happy guy!

  1. if you get the 2600 with the 333 fsb, you can take it up to a 2800 real easy just by overclocking it with decent cooling. Don't get the 266 fsb 2600. the 333 fsb is where you will notice a large difference.
