Takes a long time for cd to be reconized

Hello,
Since switching to Windows 7, when I put a cd or dvd in the drive the first time after booting, it takes about a half hour before windows 7 comes back and tells me that there is something there and is usable. Any help on this?

Boot into the Safe mode (F8).
Do you get the same symptom?
