System Restore in XP Pro doesn't work

Please help! I cannot create a system restore point, nor is System Retore
creating any automatically. I tried rebooting my system, using the
check/uncheck box in system properties, using the "Run" line, and trying to
run System Restore in Safe Mode. I also tried copying the "framedyn.dll"
from the \windows\system32\wbem directory to the Windows\system 32 directory
(I don't know if it's supposed to be there or not. The only option I have
left that I know of is to reinstall Windows XP. Can anyone help?

When I tried to create a restore point, I received the following error message:
System Restore is not able to create a restore point.
Please restart the computer, and then run System Restore again.

When I checked the Event Viewer, there were only "Information" events
related to "srservice." Those messages are as follows:

System Restore monitoring was disabled on all drives.
and
System Restore monitoring was enabled on all drives.

When I navigated to the windows\inf folder, I found that the
sr.inf file was missing. What now?

Hi,

I should have mentioned that after clicking on "All files and folder" in Search, Click on
More advanced options and put a check next to the first three options before doing the
search.

Also check to see if System Restore is monitoring any other drives.

Glad to hear it. I have a few suggestions.

Create a restore point using System Restore.
Install and update a good antivirus program. Anything other that Norton or McAfee.
Install Spywareblaster, update it and protect everything.
Run Windows Update and install all Service Packs and critical updates.
Create a restore point.
Start installing your application one by one.
Create a restore point between each one, unless you know for a fact one will be created
for you.
Run each program and check for errors.
