Hello,
My SD card isn't being recognised in my Cannon 500D. I've reformatted the card on the computer and it still won't work. What else can i do? It's never done this before.

A few questions. How old is your camera and the card? Is a warranty options still available? Do you have another card you can try? These may seem like simple questions but it will help me whittle down an idea.

Here's one other thing to try: grab a can of compressed air and spray out the slot where the card goes.

Is it a new SD card ? Your camera can only support SD/SDHC, which prevents you from using SDXC.

I got the camera only last year and the S.D card came with it, its been fine up until now the S.D card works in my point and shoot cameras and on the computer, and also other S.D cards work in my camera so it just something between this specific S.D card and my Camera.

It could be the logic board in the camera or the reader in the camera. Contact Canon to see if they'll take a look at it for you. If not contact a local camera repair/service shop to see if they'll help.
