I want to buy a combo of cpu+mobo.
I am between these pairs.I DONT want to suggest me other than these.I just want a 2nd opinion...someone might have noticed problems etc.......

P4 or Celeron combo
---------------------
CPU:
Intel Celeron 2200MHz, S478, BOX (120 euros)
Intel P4 2000MHz, 400MHz, 512kB, BOX (186 euros)
Intel P4 2400MHz, 400MHz, 512kB, BOX (220 euros)
Intel P4 2400MHz, 533MHz, 512kB, BOX (220 euros)

Mobos:
MSI 845E MAX2-LR, S478 (6398) (115 euros)
MSI 845GE MAX-L, Sockel 478 (6580)V2 (115 euros)
MSI 845PE MAX-L/SOU, S478 (110 euros)
Gigabyte GA-8PE667, Sockel 478 (100 euros)
Gigabyte GA-8PE667 Pro, Sockel 478 (115 euros)

AMD XP combo
--------------
CPUS:
AMD Athlon XP 2200+, 1800MHz, Box 125,00 €
AMD Athlon XP 2400+, 2000MHz, Box 166,60 €
Mobos:
Gigabyte GA-7VA, Sockel A (89 euros)
Gigabyte GA-7VAX, Sockel A (94 euros)
MSI K7N2-L, Sockel A MS-6570 (104 euros)
MSI K7N2G-L, Sockel A MS-6570 (135 euros)
MSI KT4 Ultra, Sockel A (6590) (94 euros)
Abit NF7, Sockel A (104 euros)
Abit NF7-S, Sockel A (124 euros)

it is obvious that the combo with the celeron is much cheaper....i would like to know if it is ok with the newest games....i dont care to be the best combo in perfomance...but to be good in perfomance-stability-price

thnx!

I have an xp 2400 and an abit nf7-s and both are amazing.I am running the cpu at 166X13 (xp2700 speed) under a volcano 7+ on low speed with 100% stability. The mobo has all the features you could want, including sata raid, and the softmenu III overclocking utility is brilliant.

no matter how hard you try, you can't polish a turd. :]
