This poll was on Slashdot recently, the last answer reminded me of a couple of posts here. So when do you read instructions?

When do you read the instructions?

[A]After extensive research, you're already an expert before acquiring the item

{B}Carefully read box and instructions before de-shrinkwrapping

[C]Study the instructions and quickstart guide beforehand

[D]Skim the instructions and guide while assembling product

[E]Discard the instructions with the packaging, but read quickstart guide anyway

[F]Look at quickstart guide if the product defeats you
Search the internet after letting the magic smoke out of the gizmo

[G]Never; just complain on internet forums that product is too difficult to use

Personally I skim the instructions while assembling.

I'd say A except that I don't need to do specific research as I already have enough general research to buy, assemble, and use just about anything I'd find usefull.

That nothing...Sod will merge the parts with some molecular manipulation to create a brand new device completely out of the bound of the old parts that will make boat to stop before the captain actually think about stopping the boat, so that will create a time shift and the few parts that was left over will be merged together by Sod...

Ok..I give up...
