Well, after changing the memory around and resetting the the computer to stop
restarting, I got an error message. Then after restarting I got a message
that the \WINDOWS\system32\config\SYSTEM is missing so the computer will not
completely boot. Is there a way to reinstall this file without have to reload
the os and losing the information and settings on my drive?

Hi,

You have corrupted the system registry, however you should be able to
recover the system. Follow the steps here:

If you don't have a regular WinXP CD, you should be able to do this from the
boot floppy set:

Using the WinXP Boot floppy set:

Mr. Rogers,
The support link came up in Japanese. That is probably because my laptop
has the Japanese OS. Is there another way to access that link in English?
