I have been pretty consistant with AMD CPUs and AMD based systems but and getting to that point where I want to upgrade. This is basically going to be a gaming system. I am currently running the following:
A7N8XDeluxe
AXP1700+
2x256MB Corsair DDR (Not the new XMS)
GF3Ti500
I basically have 2 choices:
1.
Upgrade CPU to Barton XP2800+
2.
Get a Springdale based mobo when it comes out and one of the really fast Intel P4s 2.5ghz+

As far as my GPU is concerned, I will get either a 9700 pro, 9900 pro when it comes out, or the Next Nvidia NOT THE GFX.

The biggest reason for asking all of this is that I don't know much about Intel machines and was wondering if it would be worth moving to the springdale? I plan on getting Corsair TwinX1024 PC3200LLPT since I hear the springdale has dual DDR400. I am having trouble deciding whether I should or should not wait. I really don't need to upgrade now but want to before summer. This upgrade also has to last me a long time, like 1-2 years. Or should I wait for the Hammer? Will the hammer support Dual DDR? Sorry for all the questions, I don't keep up with all the newest stuff like I use to.

Then again, having extra parts are great for making dedicated servers for LAN parties!!!!

The only way is to wait for dual ddr for the P4 to come out and see how much of a performance gain there is.

The problem with waiting is that by the time you go to buy that product, something new is on the horizon.

Springdale isn't coming out until late April right? Is it worth waiting up to 10 weeks or so?

Unless you REALLY need the springdale, go buy a A7N8X and a Barton now. It'll last 1-2 years.

Have the A7N8X already. Don't plan on upgrading until May. Doing the research and stuff now.

Well, are you noticing a performance problem with your current setup?

Basically, I want to have a system that can run the games of tomorrow with the best possible quality and speed. That is why I am waiting until May.

Ok, basically you'll just have to wait then until new products and reviews are out then in order to make a decision.

Here's a decent preview for everything to come. http://freespace.virgin.net/m.warner/RoadmapQ103.htm#Now

Thanks. After seeing that roadmap, I am looking forward to seeing how well the Springdale and Prescott perform. My own personal road map will either be a P4 system to last 1.5-2.5 years, or a Athlon to last 1-1.5 years. I still may hold out until the NV35 in September. And in the mean time I may get the 9500pro-9900pro, all depending on how much I have left from building my next Tower of Power.
