Gaming LCD Advice needed, thanks! :)

Forum Computer Peripherals : Flat Panel Monitors Gaming LCD Advice needed, thanks! :)

Hello!

I am upgrading from my 17" CRT to a LCD and would like to hear Your opinions.

I am a gamer, so I would like a "gaming" LCD.
I want the smallest possible LCD that still supports full HD as native (1920x1080) which would be the 22" (or 21.5", whatever they declare it as...).
I guessed it should have very low ms (2ms), a high contrast rate (which makes it look prettier) and I need it to be in 16:9.

I am not sure whether I should pick glossy or non-glossy or if there is any other type of monitor, I heard glossy makes the picture look crisper, nicer, and since I don't sit in front of a window I would guess that would be the way to go...

I already found some monitors and I would like your opinion on them, but I am not looking for exclusively one of them, if you have any other suggestions let me know!

Here they are:

LG w2253tq-pf

Samsung P2250

I will be keeping an eye on this thread, thanks in advance!!

What's your budget?

Well, since I'm from another country and they tend to overprice stuff here, let's say the budget is those monitors + 1/3 of their value.

But I don't like to look at the budget, just try to see which is the best one for my gaming needs :)
Besides, I'm pretty sure the gaming grade ones can't get much more expensive than that.
Those more expensive, medical grade ones, aren't suited for gaming.

I might be mistaken though =/

I use a Dell Ultrasharp 2408WFP (~3x that price when I bought it), and it works great for gaming. Response time is overrated honestly - look for good image quality and low input lag (the 2408 A00 had bad lag, but the A01 isn't bad).

In your price range, I'd recommend a Dell Ultrasharp 2209WA - it has unmatched image quality in the <$400 range.

Thanks for the advice!

The Dell Ultrasharp 2209WA doesn't have full HD resolution though (it has 1680 x 1050 instead of 1920x1080 that I would like).

It's true, but the higher quality panel is worth it in my opinion. Almost all cheap monitors (<$400) use TN panels, which have issues with colors and viewing angle. The 2209WA uses an IPS panel, which is the same basic type as is used in top end 30" monitors. It's quite a bit better than the TN.

If you really want the full HD, I've heard good things about the Samsung.

Yes, I've heard good things about the Samsung aswell, most recommendations out of those 3.
Also, that one is available in a store near me right now so it's tempting.

Thanks!

If anyone else has any other monitors or opinions about these, I would still be glad to hear them! :)

hello again... remember that an actual screenshot comparing the two would be useless...
