Updating Kyocera Prescribe Macro causes major slowdown

I recently updated a Prescribe Macro on a Kyocera FS-4000DN printer. After updating the macro, the printer will now pause after each printed page.

We send a PCL stream to the printer from an AIX box. The macro enables us to automatically duplex the job and print a Terms and Conditions type statement on the back of each page of the job.

After updating, the new terms and conditions are printed like I want, but the printer will pause after each page printed, almost like it was reset or something. Nothing has been changed except the material I want on the back of the page.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Solved my own problem. I'm not sure of the reason, but I discovered that if I used an image as the base for my macro instead of a Word or PDF it fixed my problem. I suspect that a raster based PDF would also work.

Here's how I fixed it:
1. Print my original Word doc to a PDF.
2. Open the PDF in the GIMP and then save as a GIF file.
3. Print the GIF file to the Prescribe printer.

Bingo! No more slow printing!
