I'm sorry that this is in the wrong forum, but I didn't know where to put it. I'm very new to computers and technology and was wondering where I could learn basic information to help me get started. This site is great, but some things I don't understand as I lack the basic knowledge. My goal is to be able to build my self a new computer by the end of the year, but I need to get a basic understanding first. Please help, and thank you in advance.
It shouldn't take you until the end of the year to figure out how to build a computer. Do a web search for the info. Come back here and ask questions about things you don't understand. Right now it sounds like you don't know enough to ask questions. AMD has articles for system builders. Toms has info for first timers also.
The solution may be obvious, but I can't see it for the smoke coming off my processor.
If you're very new then the first thing to learn is the address of http://www.google.com/ Go there and type in How to build your own PC and you will get lots of sites giving you information.
It's not that people aren't willing to help, ask a specific problem and anyone will be glad to help. But a basic understanding you need to get yourself, and google can help you out alot. Once you are familiar with a few components maybe you would like to know how they work. Look at http://computer.howstuffworks.com/
