I have this PII 300 based upon the Klamath core. I thik this is supposed to run at 4x66, however if I put it into an Intel LX mobo it is recognised as a PII 233, thus suggesting that the multiplier is 3.5. How can this be? Is it a remarked processor? or is the motherboard just unable to recognise the Multiplier, which btw, is unlocked on a BX board that I have.
Your PII 300 has no multiplier lock. That means it's unlocked on ANY board. That in turn means it must be set on ANY board. Your Intel LX board has a jumper to enter a special "configuration" mode in BIOS. I believe it's near the lower front corner of the board. If you put this jumper in "configuration" mode, your computer will boot to a special BIOS screen that lets you select your multiplier.

FANTASTIC CRASHMAN!! Thanks so much Crash. That means I can now overclock this processor - on an Intel mobo! Ive just taken off it's case, and have an SECC2 HSF here ready to put on, aswell as so more Heatsinks for the cache.
