Monitor receive no signal from desktop

Hello, recently my desktop is having a problem. when i turn on my PC, everything works fine until it reach the login screen, everything went black and my monitor pop a message say the it receive no signal from the DVI cable. then i turn the pc off and turn it on again. Don't work, so i try a couple more time and it it finally work. What cause this no signal problem and how can i fix it?

My PC is a Gateway FX6840, monitor is an Asus VH232H and I use DVI cable.
PC Specs:
CPU Intel Core i7 860 / 2.8 GHz
GPU ATI RADEON HD 5770
RAM 8 GB
OS Windows 7

Get an HDMI cable and use that.Since i switched i've had no issues.
