Fastest Intel 4?

I was wondering if someone can quickly fill me in on what the current fastest/latest intel pentium chip is. I know its a pentium 4 but what Ghz? Are there any branch off versions like MMX or some crap?

I want to upgrade my processor and video card on my home computer, to play the latest games, and have been out of the product loop for a while.

I'm assuming you already have a P4 based system. The 3.06 ghz pentium is the fastest, but at 567$ thats a little pricey. I'd say a P4 2.4 533mhz buss for 156$ is a much better deal, especially since you wouldn't have a motherboard that uses hyperthreading. As for graphics cards, Radeon 9700 pro is the king right now, for around 300$
