Specs: Win XP SP2, Internal 80G HD partitioned C, M(usic), W(ork), P(hotos).
C has plenty of space. Also have external usb 80GB HD for backup, labeled
I(mage). Have been using Acronis TI 8.0. Lately when I start TI, it runs
through it's anlaysis of partitions and when it hits its analysis of I it
crashes the system. I chkdsk and defragment I, it's fine. I upgraded TI to
build 903. I even take all files off the external so it's a blank HD and
run TI, same thing - crash. When I disconnect the external HD and run TI, it
goes through it's analysis of C, M, W and P and does not crash. Also, when I
simply disconnect the external HD, I get the same crash. Any suggestions are
appreciated. Thanks. Ken

What do you get when you do a "Check Image" on the I:\ ?? Did this problem
start after you did the update to build 903? Lastly, have you tried
deleting the existing image and creating a new one with the new build??
Sorry about the questions with no answers to yours, but, this is how I would
check mine.

The problem started before the upgrade to 903. I can't get far enough to do
a check image as it crashes Windows during the TI start up. I've completely
removed all folders on the ext hd and I still get the same problem. The odd
thing is that I've been using TI for about 6 months backing up about once a
month with no problem. Then, out of the blue, last week, I get this problem.
The external HD works fine with everything except TI. And, then there's this
problem of disconnecting the external HD and that causing the crash. Even
when I use the "safe to disconnect" icon on the taskbar, it crashes. With
the external hd disconnected, TI starts up just fine without a problem so
now I'm thinking it's something with the external HD, but I haven't got a
clue as to what that might be. Perplexing.
