New AMD Roadmap to San Diego

I'm excited about this, of course, because I live in San Diego. But AMD's follow-up to Athlon-64 Hammer will be "San Diego" core, .90 process, 1 gig of L2 cache. Saw mention on one website to Athlon 4800+, but it was in another language, so it might not be in context. Anyway, AMD's new roadmap is out...looks like "San Diego" in H1 of 2004. I take it you mean "<b>0.09</b> process, 1 <b>meg</b> of L2 cache."

It would be fantastic to have 1GB of cache, but I seriously doubt that's going to happen in 2004. :frown: It would be horrible if AMD regressed all the way from 130nm to 900nm, but I seriously dout that too.

Instead of Rdram, why not just merge 4 Sdram channels...

Rofl! Ever make a really stupid mistake and wonder how you could have possibly been that stupid? Of course you're correct. I even edited my post and STILL missed it! .90 process, lol. That would require a processer that's what? 5 inches by 5 inches? And the Gig of cache would make it even bigger.

Time for me to go back to rehab.
