A friend of mine just bought a P4 1,8A 478 pins.....well it now has 477 cause he dropped it it and one of the pins broke off, it's the one next to where there's already two "missing". It boots up fine and everything seems to be working, what exactly does this pin do?

There are lots of redundant VSS and VCC pins, he probably lost one of those.
