I've got an Epox 8KHA+ Mobo. and I'm looking to upgrade the processor (then the mobo to the epox N-force 2, then get 512mb of faster ram)

Now I'm in the UK and while theres loads of places that sell XP's I would like info of how to tell if they're thorough bred cores (ie the Mfr part # as i'm buying online)

Also are there different revisions of this ??

I have found one Mfr part #: AXDA2200DKV3C I know that this is a 0.13u from looking at AMD webby but would like further info on the issues/factors involved.

Thanks for your time

I know that's a thouroughbred because the poliminos stopped at xp2100+. Don't know about the part revision though.

Pain is the realization of your own weakness.

All Athlon XP 2200+'s are Thoroughbred Cores.....

the AXDA on the part number shows its a Thoroughbred...

i however am against buying the 2200+.....unless of course its a Thoroughbred 'B' Version...inw hich case the chip should say the following...

AXDA2200DUT3C
JIUH<b>B</b> 0302

Or something similar to that! The 5th digit on the 2nd line of the CPU Code should have the Letter 'B' to signify a Thoroughbred 'B' if its an 'A' inplace of the 5th digit than u dont want that CPU as it will NOT overclock well at all.....

Your best bet is to buy a Thoroughbred 'B' 1700+ and overclock it to 2600+ speeds or beyond....

Here's AMD's documentation on how their part numbers work:
<A HREF="http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/DownloadableAssets/Processor_Recognition_Rev03_ENG.pdf" target="_new">http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/DownloadableAssets/Processor_Recognition_Rev03_ENG.pdf</A>

This should help you figure out what to order.
