Hello,
My toshiba satellite wont start. goes straight to blank screen with flashing mouse no cursor. on blank screen no error messages wont start from recovery disk
Thanks Last Poet but no response using F8...tried recovery CD and unable to use System Restore etc....is there any other tool to get access to Windows startup options No immediate access to Installation media
sound like the hard disk is holding up the mb chipset. if it easy to pull the hard drive i would and see if the laptop will boot from the cd. if the screen just stays there for more then 3 min then the mb and hard drive are not timing out.
Are you getting the boot screen? I think you do. Seems more like a hardware issue. Please tell something more about your problem. What caused it or has it happened before.
Hi Bobby_Pro
the problem started while I was downloading a file. The system just started shutdown and when I restarted pc it stopped on a blank blue screen with flashing mouse (no Cursor) and has been there ever since.

Thanks smorizio..I tried your suggestion and the blank screen did sit there for a couple mins before bios notified "no bootable device" error message. This was with the recovery CD loaded. Does this indicate a problem with memory / HD
Is the DVD/CD drive in enabled for booting? It should try to boot from the CD with the hard drive removed.[/quotemsgy
Hi Jim...yes the system's bios is set to start 1st from dvd. Recovery CD loads but unable to use those options
