Microsoft Extends Windows 7 Beta Availability Until January 24th

We have clearly heard that many of you want to check out the Windows 7 Beta and, as a result, we have decided (to) remove the initial 2.5 million limit on the public beta for the next two weeks (thru January 24th). During that time you will have access to the beta even if the download number exceeds the 2.5 million unit limit.

After a daylong rollercoaster drama during which Windows 7 Beta gave us a false-alarm release followed by a server smackdown, Microsoft is finally handing out honest to goodness product keys for the beta.

  1. So far so good. I just got both the keys for 32-bit and 64-bit and it works. Thanks for the update. :D
  2. I don't see why Microsoft would limit the number of downloads at all. The more (unpaid) testers the better, isn't it? Also, the more enthusiasts spending their time with Windows 7 Beta, the fewer left to play with Linux and other competing systems.
  3. I take it this is just talking about the 5 keys that are all over the internet now?
