Yes James, pay MS 3-4K for a MSDN subscription and you can download just
about anything you'd like!

You would have to be an invited beta tester or own a
MSDN subscription in order to try out the early beta
version of Vista. Vista is in the very preliminary stages
of development and testing at this time.

Are you serious? That's a "great deal"? Geez.

Poor choice of words on my part.
In this case "great deal" means "large number".
Whether the price is a "great deal" depends on the specific needs of the
purchaser.
Considering the variety of operating systems provide on CD/DVD, adding all
the others available through download, # of licenses per OS and that use is
perpetual.
This is cheaper than most any 4 on the list.
For the most part, the purchaser has 10 licenses each in perpetuity.
You can count how many installations a developer can have if you want, but
it can easily be over a few hundred concurrent installations, which is
slightly more than 4.

Heh, 2.5GB is a lot even for a BB user. Wonder what the heck they have put
in there? Does it take 2.5GB to plug all the bugs and security holes? Nah,
that would require a lot more..

I bet they did not include the driver kit for Vista which comes separately as a download. Not much good without it. Also if anybody noticed that Vista is now a server not a home OS. Just read the heading ..
And on the last line the name change.

"Longhorn Client, now known as Microsoft Windows Vista " (quote from MS
site)
No, that link sounds to me like Vista and Longhorn *Server* are not the
same.

Vista is a "client OS."
Longhorn Server has yet to get renamed.
"More information on *Windows* *Longhorn* *Server* will be available in
the coming months. For more information on *Longhorn* *Client*, now
known as *Microsoft* *Windows* *Vista*, please visit the Microsoft
Windows Vista site." (emphasis is mine) -
