If your on a budget: 1700xp
If you need a performer in games: 2400xp
If you want that extra bit of performance: 2700xp (333fsb)
If you have more money than sense: 3000 barton

Give us the rest of your system specs, ie: PS, Vid card, sound card, Ram.... That way we can make an informed decision based on your current system. In other words don't upgrade if you currently have a gf2 Mx and don't plan on upgrading it also.

Yeah im an intelligent guy, thats why i dont spend my hard earned cash on a cpu, then mess about crossing bridges that could ah heck it up! lol. Sorry to be of no help here, but honestly if you want better performance, upgrade or up the fsb a bit and get faster memory to compensate, thats what i did.

Looking at your system specs, i would look for a nice price on a 2500 barton, good performance (similar to a 2600), yet very low prices. Thats if you dont mind updating your bios!
Dont know about speakers, i just have sound through my stereo.
