Hi, I ran the 3dmark2003 test and I was wandering why my pentium 4 3.06GHz score worst then an Athlon 2200 xp on the cpu test??

here are the results
CPU Scores (CPUMarks)
P4 202.0
AMD 527.0

CPU Test 1(fps)
P4 27.1
AMD 54.3

CPU Test 2(fps)
P4 2.8
AMD 10.1

Thanks!

The AMD is overclocked, I score 700 in the CPU tests with a 3.06... Overclocked.

3Dmark2003 is geared for video card primarily so a AMD duron 800 can beat a P4 3.06 if the video card is overclocked significantly.

<b>"Granted I dont own a P4. But I read enough stuff and waste enough time on forums newsgroups IRC and computer news sites that I proberly know more then if I DID own a P4." -vk2amv</b>

forget about the CPU Test and even better, forget about 3dmark03 at all. It's a flawed synthetic benchmark only usefull to show off your latest DX9 card...

vacs, the reason i would recommend 3dmark03 is to see if their's any problems with your computer that it's not running at a slower speed, in this case their seems to be a problem with his processor. It's obvious it's not running as fast as it should, i get about 600 on my bench (2100+ oc'ed to 2800+) so their's obviously something wrong, the benchmark isn't flawed.

"What kind of idiot are you?"
"I don't know, what kinds are there?"

CPU speed does not influence the 3dmark03 score as much as your graphiccard. Indeed you can get 4000 points with a R9700 even if you have a Athlon 1800+!

In any way, don't use 3dmark03 to test your CPU speed! It's absolutely not meant for that...
