my numbers and the arrow buttons dont work on my 3800 , can anyone tell me why.

my numbers keys and the arrow buttons that goes either left or right dont work on my dell inspiron 3800 , but the up and down ones does , also i have attached the external keyboard and it does the same thing , can anyone tell me why.
