I am having a hard time finding a monitor which suits my needs. I am currently on a 3 year old 22" Dell 5ms (Dell E228WFP) and am looking for something larger, brighter, better color, FASTER, and higher res. I was originally going to purchase an Asus 25.5" 1920x1200 2ms (VW266H), but apparently they are sold out on newegg and most places I would actually buy from online. I would like a 1920x1200, but I am finding that alot of the new displays are 1920x1080. I am assuming because it's cheaper and it has that "HD" resolution. You know that magical 1080P, oooohhh ahhhhh. Anyways. I am not a monitor guru so I am looking for assistance. My original budget was $300, but it can vary so please don't consider price unless it's over $500. Thanks in advance.

Dell U2410. You can probably catch it on sale if you're patient too - Dell has monitor sales all the time.

Image quality is fantastic, low input lag in gaming mode, and in general an amazing monitor.

6ms gray to gray is kinda slow for a gaming display. Mine is 5ms now and I can notice it. IPS display are definitely better at color, but i need fast.

wow your in the same boat i am except my old dell is 17 inch and 5 years old. (by the way yea i notice the 5ms response time too and am looking at the 24inch Asus with 2ms GTG.)

if your spending that much i would look at the 28 inch Hanns G it has great ratings on the egg. 3 ms response should fix any ghosting. at $330 it should be right up your alley. hope this helps! and good luck.

^ Something with that HAnns-G just doesn't sit right. I've read alot of reviews and I have mixed feelings about it. Most reviews I said said its good as just a big fast monitor but the quality just isn't that great.

You should read the following article from ExtremeTech which dives into Response Times (conclusion section). It focuses on LCD HTDVs, but the principals do apply to PC LCD monitors as well:

6ms is irrelevant. I've compared my 2ms (Dell SP2209) with my 6ms (Dell Ultrasharp 2408) display, and the 6ms is actually faster response time by every test I have tried. Obviously, 2ms monitors won't be consistently slower or anything like that, but as long as response time is <10ms or so, I wouldn't bother trying to distinguish monitors by the rating (since there are so many different ways of rating it anyways).

Input lag is the main important factor, and the U2410 is very low input lag in game mode.
