Dead usb ports

My customer said his d800 laptop ran out of battery Since then his usb hubs will not recognize anything plugged in to usb a flash drive will light up but no new hardware is found. In usb in device manager I have unchecked allow this device to turn off to save power. I have repaired xp pro and loaded a few second hand usb drivers What is next?

I don't know if you got my reply but I am not receiving any money for this question Do you have any answers for what I can do since I have done the things metioned above for the usb ports

Well, you need to first figure out if this is a software or hardware failure. Running a live Linux distribution should help you determine that.

Can you not uninstall the USB drivers from device manager? reboot it and windows should reinstall them itself.
